The Niso Kamatotan Program is designed to provide First Nations persons with disabilities enhanced pre-employment services. It is an effective forum for sharing knowledge and understanding about disability issues. Skills training units include: Introduction to Computers, Academic Upgrading, Communication Skills, Health and Healing, and Comprehensive Urban Life Skills.

This program provides three-weeks of pre-employment training for Welding and Steel Fabrication. Participants develope skills in: job search techniques, resume writing, job readiness, goal setting and career action planning. The program also provides safety training certificates, as well as hands-on experience with welding and steel fabrication on the NAIT campus.

The Summer Work Experience Program is designed to assist students entering the labour market by providing their employers with wage subsidies. This helps offset the costs associated with hiring new employees from secondary, post-secondary, vocational and technical institutions.

Wildland Type 1 Firefighter Training

Eight First Nations individuals recieve training for Type I Wildland Firefighting over a 20-day period. The training provides the participants with the necessary WFC1 certification required to work in the firefighting industry. Training includes fire control and safety courses, chainsaw safety, first aid, and WHMIS, TDG, and H2S Awareness.
